A custom booking system for an in-home pet euthanasia service

After months of failed attempts by other developers, A Compassionate Farewell’s booking form still didn’t work. We built a booking plugin around how the business actually runs, and the first live booking came in the morning after launch.

The problem

Families booking this service are having one of the hardest days of their lives. The booking has to be simple, quick and clear about cost. Earlier developers had made big promises and not delivered, and the booking form was broken.

What we built

An estimate first. Families pick the pet type, rough size, address and service, and see the cost before they book.
Service area checks. Addresses outside the area are caught before anyone books.
Fees worked out for you. Travel and out-of-hours fees are added automatically.
Deposits through Stripe, with the signed consent form saved as a PDF.
Linked to Google Calendar. Families can only choose times when the vet is free.
Messages that send themselves. Pre-written texts and a confirmation email.
Tested in a staging environment before it went live.

The result

The booking system went live in August 2026 and the first booking came in the next morning, for the same day. Since then everything has worked as it should, and the bookings keep coming in.

Here’s what happens now when a family books:

They see the cost straight away. They choose their pet, its rough size, their address and the service, and get an estimate before committing to anything.
They pick a time that works. Only times when the vet is free are offered.
They pay a deposit and sign the consent form online. The signed form is saved as a PDF.
Confirmations go out on their own. The family gets a confirmation email, and the follow-up texts are already written.

The family has one less thing to worry about on a hard day, and the business doesn’t have to chase anyone.
