Ongoing WordPress support for a nonprofit’s community platform

The Urban Entrepreneurship Initiative is a US nonprofit running a WordPress community platform for people working to improve urban communities, with members, a blog and a podcast. Its small team wanted a developer on hand each month, not a new agency for every job.

The problem

The team wanted every page to match the look of the homepage, with a menu that took visitors everywhere they needed. They also wanted to start taking donations online, and to manage day-to-day changes like banners and images themselves.

What we did

One look across the site. Inside pages, the blog and the podcast pages brought in line with the homepage, and every top-level menu item fixed and linked.
Online donations. A donation page connected to their payment account, with a donate button in the header in place of the login button and a donate bar on mobile.
Changes they can make themselves. A homepage image slider and page banners they swap by changing a page’s image, with short videos showing how.
A plan for each month. A written update of what was done and what’s next, so the hours go on what matters most.

The result

The platform now looks consistent from page to page and takes donations online, and the team makes everyday content changes without waiting on a developer.
