A login-only ordering site for a warehouse

Logistikkhuset runs a warehouse that its customers’ departments and dealers order stock from. We built a login-only ordering site where those departments and dealers place their own orders, with every order sent straight to the warehouse system.

The problem

Orders from the customer’s departments and dealers had to be typed into the warehouse system by hand. That took the warehouse team’s time and left room for mistakes, and with lots of departments and dealers ordering, it added up.

What we built

Login only. Only approved departments and dealers can see the products and place orders.
A simple login for dealers. Staff sign in with an email and password. Dealers just enter their dealer number, because many of them don’t have an email address.
No prices on show. Departments order stock, not buy it, so prices are hidden everywhere.
Quick ordering. A fast product search, saved delivery addresses and a quick order form for people who order the same things often.
Straight to the warehouse. Each order is sent to the warehouse system as it’s placed, already labelled with the right order type, with no retyping.

The result

Here’s what happens now when a customer needs stock:

The customer logs in with their email or dealer number and sees only the products they can order.
The customer places the order themselves, using saved addresses and quick ordering.
The order goes straight into the warehouse system, ready to pick and send. Nobody types it in.

The warehouse team no longer spend their time retyping orders, and the orders they work from are exactly what was asked for.
