A shipping company website with a live fleet map

Fairwind is a ship owner and operator based in Piraeus, Greece. It needed a new website that showed customers where its fleet was, without anyone having to update positions manually.

The problem

Fairwind wanted a professional website with a page for every vessel and a live map of where the fleet was. The vessel tracking data costs money for every lookup, so the map had to stay up to date without running up a bill.

The newsletter sign-up also had to keep spam off the mailing list.

What we did

A live fleet map. The site pulls each vessel’s position from a live vessel tracking service and plots the fleet on a map, with a page and downloadable specification sheet for every ship.
Positions that update themselves, on a budget. The site checks for new positions every few hours and only asks for what it needs, which keeps costs down. A log shows every check and what it used, with a button to update on demand.
A port search tool. We gathered port information into the site so visitors can search ports directly.
A newsletter sign-up that keeps spam out. Company, email and role go straight into their email platform in the background, with an invisible spam check and a confirmation email before anyone is added.
A confidential reporting form, protected against spam in the same way.

The result

The site went live in September 2026. The fleet map keeps itself up to date, and Fairwind can see exactly how many tracking lookups it’s using without asking anyone.
