7 Time Saving WordPress Plugins

We are always trying to enhance our workflow for WordPress projects.  Here are a few plugins that we use to save time and speed up our delivery process.

1. CMS Tree Page View

CMS Tree Page View allows you to view your pages in a tree structure.  We’re all very familiar with the folder structure integrated into operating systems and Tree Page View allows you to work with the exact same way in WordPress. One of the key features that our clients love is the drag and drop ability for ordering pages.

2. Disqus

Disqus is the only commenting solution you will ever need for WordPress!  We all know that the commenting system that comes out of the box with WordPress leaves a lot to be desired.  Disqus  seamlessly integrates with Wordpress comments, with such ease you are able to keep on top of all comments on your website. Its simplistic nature allows you to create a great discussion environment ensuring you don’t neglect any comments or discussions. Disqus also keeps track of  pesky spammers while supporting rich media and social logins.

3. Broken Link Checker

A simple and effective plugin. Does exactly what it says on the tin (with some added features). Having broken links within a site can mean bad news especially when a new visitor checks out your site. Broken Link Checker parses through all your links and notifies you by email or by the dashboard of any that are not working correctly or may needed to be edited, so even on the move you will be notified of the hiccup. This plugin also stops any broken links from appearing in search engines (optional), something that is very handy.

4. Relevanssi

Relevanssi give you full control over your on site search.  It enhances users search experience to mirror common features of common search engines. Search terms are highlighted on your results page, making it easy for users to find the content they are actually looking for.  It also allows for indexing of meta fields and works great as along side plugins like Advanced Custom Fields.

5. Regenerate Thumbnails

Regenerate Thumbnails is one of my favourite timesaving in the plugins.  Simply add a new image size to your functions file and this handy plugin will create the relevant images for all media that has been uploaded.

6. Duplicate Posts

When adding content to a site, creating the pages or blog posts can be a drawn out experience but by duplicating an existing post or page, you will be up and running in no time.

7. BulkPress

Creating the hierarchy for a large site can take hours especially if there are large amounts of content and complex hierarchal structure. With BulkPress you are able to create posts, pages, categories, custom post types and taxonomies in bulk, fast and easy. The UI isn’t complex which is also very surprising as you will be handling large amounts of content.
